Hi everyone,
I am a complete novice at IT hardware, but would like to know if I can take the ATI RADEON 9700 Graphics card from my dying Dell Inspiron 9100 (bought in 2002) and pop it in my HP Pavillion dv4 (1433US) that I recently picked up.
The card in the HP can't handle a game I play on PoolStars.com
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Pretty sure that not as most graphics cards are soldered to te motherboard - if the 9700 isn't, the one in the HP may be.
And then, different "fittings"...
What graphics card have you got in your HP? -
Your HP most likely has the non removable intel integrated graphics card. In most cases that graphics card is better than the old ATi 9700.
You are not going to be able to swap graphics cards between the two. A lot has changed in laptop manufacturing in the 6 years difference in manufacturing dates between your laptops

Return your HP and order a new one... and ask around on the forum for advice on getting a laptop which can actually play games... as i always say nver get intel's crappy integrated Graphics.. total crap...

Well at least the NVDIA G105M is way better than X4500MHD

I thought the G105m was a re-named 9300/9400 but with a slight higher clock? I will say this on behalf of the intel 4500hd, if your not playing new medium-heavy games or doing intensive 3D tasks, it does job fine for most.

I'm pretty sure the card in the hp is probably soldered, and is not removable....Unless you have a degree in electronic engineering. My advice: don't try it.

The Dell does use a graphics card module similar to MXM, but it is a Dell proprietary version that is only compatible with Dell notebooks built around that same time.
Also, HP is known to solder their GPUs on to the motherboard except in high end business workstations.
So not only do you have a GPU that uses a Dell specific interface, you have an HP notebook that does not have an interface at all.
