I left my computer for a few hours. I thought I'd put it to sleep but I hadn't and it heated up a lot.
Yada yada, I noticed about 30 seconds later that the port/charge prong thing had green liquid on it. It definitely waasn't there before.
Anyone have any idea what it is? The charger still works (though im leaving it unplugged) and it's not spilling out or anything. I used a cuetip to clean what I could but it can't reach very far back.
soooo help?

can you post a picture because i would love to see it.....i honestly have no idea what it is but i am curious to see it and know what it is

Can't - sorry. No idea where my camera is.
Apparently this could be a leaking capacitor... not my question but: Why is green liquid coming out of my computer? - Yahoo! Answers
That still doesn't leave me with much info. No idea what to do. -
Buried in this post is a reference to fluid leaking. HowStuffWorks "What is causing lithium-ion laptop batteries to catch fire?"
Can you remove the battery and inspect? Or take the case apart and have a look. In any case I would not power it on until you or a service tech check it out -
I took the battery out last night because I thought it might have been leaking but I didnt see any holes/ liquid around it.

Could it be melted plastics? Are there any solid green parts near the charge port?
-
Nope. And it's really viscous - not melty or thick.

Maybe somebody went over the top with the thread lock, when assembling your notebook, I use to work for LG and they use to use green thread-lock though it comes in a number of different colours.

Hmmm thread lock would have went everywhere and shorted the board. It would have easily dried out from the heat, even at large volumes.
My guess would be insulating grease that thinned out from the heat and leaked.
......and thus another Sony fire hazard recall (assuming your referring to the sony of your sig)
Green liquid in laptop charge-port...
