Can anyone post a comprehensive guide on downclocking and lowering RAM timings, in the case of stability & compensation for a higher FSB overclock?
There is a lot I don't understand, apparently. I saw someone say that the m860tu in particular does not like strange RAM timings.
Also its weird that the 1333 RAM I have is actually running at that. Why cant I just lock it to 1066 and have it be stable with my fsb at 1333?
any help is appreciated, thanks.

I wouldn't use SPDtool, I would try thaiphoon burner (the older trial versions are fully functional, newer trial versions dont let you flash).
Thaiphoon burner is easy to use, you can even use the browser function to search for other SPD dumps and flash those onto your ram.
Though I think you will have trouble with thaiphoon burner and 64bit vista/7.
SPDtool has bricked a lot of my ram. Not even sure it it works well with DDR3 ram. It's an old tool.
Remember to always flash just one stick of ram, the other stick will downclock to match. -

Thanks. yeah, I didn't figure trial versions would let you flash.
Which older version is it that will?
Does thaiphoon burner work with ddr3? i didnt think there was anything that officially supported it... -

Version 6.3.0.1 is what I used last.
Thaiphoon burner does work with ddr3.
What I would do is use the latest trial version to mod your SPD, then use the old version to flash it.
