I just bought an OEM BD-Rom combo drive from eBay for my Gateway P-7811 FX. I installed it and tried to throw in the software (CyberLink PowerDVD 8 Ultra, updated to build 2521) to play it and I got a message that said "CyberLink PowerDVD requires periodic updates to continue playing back some new disc titles. Would you like to update now?" , I said yes, it said updated and tried to play it again and got the same message again. I tried Nero 8 with BD add-on and CyberLink PowerDVD 7.3 each giving me a similar message. I even tried various signed Nvidia drivers and ran the CyberLink BD Advisory. Any advice?

Cyberlink is not very good at playing anything. Use VLC, or divx media player.
If you want cyberlink, try an older version, which isnt as buggy

VLC and Divx don't support BD playback. This is to play Blu-ray discs.

Turns out to be HDCP or something like it issue, with AnyDVD HD it plays fine.
