    Hey NBR,

    First of all, sorry for the long and potentially inaccurate title. If this thread is posted in the wrong section, then Mods, you can move it.

    So, there is a performance coming up here and I want to use our Sony HVR V1u for live streaming. How would I do that? What programs do I need? Is it possible to Stream and Record at the same time?

    I'm not really sure what you're asking. You want to stream a live broadcast while you record it at the same time? Is that's right? I suppose you'll need a reliable service.

    It looks like this camera supports streaming via a Firewire connection and will output SD as a stream from internal decoders.

    What computer are you thinking of using for this?

    I don't think I would try to stream a real high quality image as you would need a lot od bandwidth and not too many could take advantage of it anyway.

    Really need more info to try to help.

    I plan to use my laptop (4GB Ram, X7900, 8800m GTX) to do this. My objective is to stream to a website (a private one, not one such as ustream etc). I need to know what program I have to use to do this, and how it can be done. It would be good if the Camcorder can record on tape while simultaneously stream live. What program would allow me to use my camcorder as an external webcam without disrupting its recording functions?
