I get my G1S today and am swapping out the HD. I'm considering these 3 which seem to be the fastest around the $100 price range.

My question is which of the Hitachis is better. They are both 100G, but I don't understand HD's enough, even after researching to make a wise decision. Here's the comparison from Hitchi about both of these drives.

Any help or suggestions of better, around the $100- 120 price range, HDs is welcome.

I would get the 7K200. It is the latest generation and has 100GB packed onto one platter with a big 16MB cache. It will have performance similar to the class-leading 200GB 7K200. Being latest generation and only one platter should also mean slightly less power consumption compared to the others.

Any ideas why the 100G 7K200 would be less than the 100G 7K100? Always throws a red flag out to me when the next generation is less than the old generation.

Which version of the G1s did you get? The A1 or B1?
-
OK. I got the A1. Didn't need to pay the xtra couple 100 for a 2.4 and 7200 RPM drive.
It looks like I'm going to get the 7K200. It's the newer model, less heat and power consumption. I was debating on getting a Sata II HD, but just got off the phone with Asus, and they said that although the mobo comes with the sata II connector, there won't be any difference unless you use the hd in a raid config, which of course the G1S only has 1 HD.
So I'm taking the old drive and using that as an external using the vizo saturno hdd enclosure. -
Ah, was wondering in case you bought the B1, cause not all sites mentions that it has a 7200rpm HD.
The 7k200 is a good idea.
