Howdy Folks!
I am looking to Upgrade my Hard Drive from 320gb 5400rpm to something like 500gb 7200rpm or faster.
My Budget is about $200.00. If I could get something awesome for $150 i'd be stoked!
I have the base Model of a Sony Vaio AW. I do moderate Gaming, videos, music downloads etc. Need a bit more speed.
What Brands and size do you suggest? Do you think Frys is the best place to buy it?
Are the Graphics Cards upgradable on these things? I have a GeForce 9600M GT. Don't know if it can be removed though.
Thanks for your ideas! And this site is Awesome. Great info and support. I have been lurking for a while, now I finally have a question to ask!
Thanks again.![]()

Get that SSD for one of the hard drive bays in your AW as the main hard drive for tons of speed, and put your current 320gb one in your other hard drive bay for space.
and no, you can't upgrade the graphics. -

Reaper05 is right, Western Digital doesn't even make a 500gb 7200rpm 2.5in drive yet. I will be getting the Momentus, or the 5400rpm WD in a couple weeks myself.
Frys can have good deals, but I like Newegg best myself. Another good sture in zipzoomfly" ( http://search.zipzoomfly.com/?Key=momentus+7200.4&Category=00&x=0&y=0) -

Do you care more about speed or about size of the harddisk?
If you care more about speed, I'd suggest you to look for a "Western Digital Scorpio Black", available with up to 320 GB of storage. Also, I heard that the Momentus causes stronger vibrations, resulting in more noise.

Usually, graphics on Laptops can't be replaced. I think there are some exceptions, but as far as I know the Sony AW Series is not one of them. -
