I have a notebook harddrive (Fujitsu), that I want to turn into an external hard drive. I have a vantec/NexStar enclosure, but I cant get it to work. I think I need to reformat the HD but i dont know how. Any thoughts/ suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have an IDE or SATA drive? Do you have the right enclosure for it? What do you mean by "can't get it to work"? You can format a drive from within Windows.

put the drive in the enclosure.
    plug into computer
right click on "my computer" and choose "manage, then goto disk management.
you should be able to right click on the external and then format it from there.
