I want to get a 80GB 5400RPM HD soon. Which brand is good? What exactly are the features that over the others?

I notice some HDs have lower volts than others; let's say comparing 1.1 volts and 0.7 volts, how much difference make it make in term of battery life, roughly? 5 mins, 10 mins etc?

You're probbly never going to notice such small differences in the real world. If you're looking for a HDD, the Hitachi's are a pretty good brand. I have the 5400rpm 60GB drive in my notebook (came with the unit) and it's fast, quiet and runs cool.
