...use the XBOX 360 HD-DVD for $200.

Unfortunately, my connections do not support HDCP so this is worthless for me. Any idea if HDCP will be available through some USB add-on or PC Card in the future? What about software based HDCP? Does that even exist???

I suspect this is going to play out like DVDs. The first PC based DVD drives needed a good GPU for decoding. Over time, as systems got more powerful, the need for a good graphics card waned and software decoding was all that was required even on the weakest of cards. The spec for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will remain the same until they are replaced while PCs will get faster and software better. The x1600 should be enough to play Hi-Def content. I'm taking it your x1600 isn't HDMI complaint through the DVI connector on the dock? I can't see it happening through a USB or card slot. It is a pretty small niche, but who knows. For now you still need a pretty good card. I don't see software being a solution in the near future.

That's what I meant. Thanks for the assist.

So now we just need a reason to have a HD-DVD (or Blu-Ray) drive...

I have the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive hooked up to my HDTv. I have to say I wasn't all that impressed. I watched the included King Kong, it was in my opinion no better than the DVD.

ZaZ, what is the KingKong DVD format? 720p? 1080p?
HD-DVD for PC...Interesting solution...
