Hi,
First of all sorry for this but this post is related to my desktop pc, I just didnt know what other forum to use and NBR has a lot respectable users. If this needs to be deleted, sorry.
Ok, Im going to try to explain this as briefly as I can. All from a sudden my PC started to freeze from time to time. Everytime I restarted the PC the boot section of Windows was corrupted and I needed to fix that with the Windows DVD until one day it didnt recognized the partition anymore. I tryed to use that HDD with an external case and It worked perfectly, so I thought it was a problem from the motherboard or PSU so I tryed to connect the HDD again to see if it was fixed and the PC turned on but only for 1 second and then it shut down (for safety reasons I guess). So I tryed with another SATA power cable and when I did that and turned the PC on the HDD started to burn and there was a lot of smoke.
So the HDD is not going to work anymore, but is there anyway to recover the data? Remember that I cant turn the HDD on even on the external case now.
And what do you guys think the problem is? The PSU that is starting to die and getting defective or an isolate problem from the HDD? I mean its weird that there isnt any kind of preventive safety issue for this and that all the other components are working fine (I think)
Thanks a lot for reading this and for your future help.
