I have ordered a DELL inspiron 15R Special Edition, which I am about to receive in a day or two. I read posts in this forum about high performance of machines with SSD. So I am thinking about replacing the Optical Drive of my machine which I am about to receive with one like this, so that I can still use my HDD in it.

Is this specific item compatible with inspiron 15R Special Edition?

Looks like it's for a ThinkPAD Ultrabay - but also compatible for specific Macbook's too.

NOT compatible with your new purchase (imo).

How to search for the one which is compatible with 15R Special Edition then? Is there any code which defines specific type of the caddy?

You could search NewModeUS's website for your laptop. I recall seeing Dell as one of the OEMs they make stuff for.
