    Hey guys,

I plan to get a NP9150/P150EM Special Edition from Xotic PC. I want to purchase my own caddy from the link below (for some reason, Xotic charges $40 for a caddy if bought separate):

Amazon.com: NEW SATA 2nd HDD caddy for 12.7mm Universal CD/DVD-ROM: Computers & Accessories

Does anyone know if the bezel lines up with this caddy? If it does, I will ask Xotic PC to give me a quote with the DVD drive not included. I've found that some people say it lines up, but others say the bezel on the laptop is angled and does not line up.

    Thanks,
    Josh

That should fit, as optical bay dimensions are fairly standardized (hence the caddy being dubbed as universal). The one from Xotic will no doubt fit assuredly, but the drive caddies are all basically within negligible millimeters of each other.

I heard back from Xotic, and even if they don't include the DVD drive, they cannot reduce the price. So I guess, I will have access to the bezel regardless.

i just received that same caddy from that same company for my 9150 this week. drive fits nice and snug--held from sliding all ways--and the installation, including swapping the bezels, took less than 15 minutes. the bezel that the caddy comes with is flat and obviously doesn't line up with the chassis at all. i watched this video to brush up on my optical bay/caddy bezel-swapping skills. once you pop the tray, you actually only need to depress the tab on one side and the whole bezel comes right off the optical drive.
