I have been noticing that my system is slightly sluggish overall and I'm thinking that it is related to my hdd failing. I have noticed it making a clicking sound alot more often than normal.
I'm looking for a program that will allow me to test if my HDD is failing so that I can start pulling data off it before it totally shuts down.

First, just run CHKDSK. Then you can run DFT from a bootable CD such as the Ultimate Boot Disk.

I just ran a quick and an extended test released by WD and it passed them both but something definitely seems wrong, I guess it wouldn't hurt to check the ram while I'm at it but apart from shipping bad I have never had any mess up while working inside a computer. Interestingly hwmonitor reported that during the check my hdd hit 57*c which I previously thought was high enough to damage the disk itself...also while not even accessing the hdd it is still constantly clicking... -

You can run WD diagnostics , it works on any make of hdd as long as it can read the smart data, download from the link below.

When was the last time you defragged it?

In my previous post I mentioned a quick test and a full test that I ran, I used the WD utility and my hdd passed both. In response to the defragging i have my computer set to auto defrag once a week. So far I have run numerous tests and nothing has failed, I went ahead and starting backing everything up and have decided to stick with this hdd until it fails (if it fails...).
Thanks for all the help -
If you run HDTune and post the screenshot here we can tell you if your hard drive is performing like it should.

Just ran it, take a look at my taskbar!!!

Performance seems normal.
Temp is high but it can happen when you have a 8800M GTS.
You might want to try lifting up your laptop so there can move more air underneath.
The clicking sound you can disable with hdparm.
