i am just wondering about HDD for my laptop, i am looking for a light laptop with good battery life, graphic card, processor ...ect for school work (mobility) and also for gaming (around league of legends ) i found the laptop on gentech, but i have the option between 5400 rpm vs 7200 rpm.
i will use the machine for mostly league of legend and matlab, i want to know if upgrade to 7200 hdd will improve my frame rate in league of legends, and also my run time in matlab when test run my works (say loop through a function 100,000 times and find the max output value in that 100,000 runs)

This should go in the hardware section, so if a mod can please move it there.

As for your question, the RPM will affect boot times and load times not the framerate or MATLAB calculation performance.

A HDD with 7200 RPM will give Win7 more 'snap' and responsiveness but does not give you a more 'powerful' system than what the cpu/gpu/ram is capable of.

Your system's gpu will affect the frame rate in games.

Your cpu/ram will affect the speed with which matlab runs.

With RAM being so cheap, I recommend Win7x64 with 8GB RAM, along with a 7200RPM HDD of 500GB or larger (larger=newer/faster).

    Good luck.
