Kind of a weird question. I was wondering if it would be possible to put a new internal hard drive into a laptop. The laptop im getting is pretty high end here are the specs:

    Acer Aspire AS5739G-6132
    Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 2.1G T6500(2.10GHz) 800MHz 2MB
    RAM: 4GB DDR3
GPU: 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M
    HDD: 250GB SATA

and here are the specs for the hard drive I would like to put in it:

    Seagate Barracuda 7200.12
    SATA 3.0Gb/s
    HDD: 1TB 7200 RPM
    32MB
    4.16ms
    3.5"

so would it be possible? Or should I just spend the extra money and get an external? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you for your time

The Barracuda 7200.12 is a desktop hard drive. It will not fit inside your laptop.

Like Soviet Sunrise said, that is a 3.5" desktop drive and will not fit in a 2.5" compartment. Right now, the largest capacity for a laptop drive is 500GB. Seagate is releasing a 640GB HDD soon. Can't say when though. If you plan to use it for media storage, it would be a better idea to get an external since leaving a storage device constantly on when you're using the laptop will drain its life. If you need to install programs, I would get the 500GB drive. If you're looking for performance, look for the Seagate Momentus 7200 rpm drives for laptops or invest in a SSD.

thank you for your help. I guess since it will be used for storage, I will just get an external TB. Thanks again.

If your optical drive is a 12.7mm one, then you can fit a 12.7mm 750GB/1TB 2.5' HDD in the optical bay. See sig if interested.
