Ok, so i began dbannign my disk earlier, abut my computer shut down (i think my father did something on accident, like unplug it)
now, my HDD shows up as 372gb... and its a 500gb HD... so i should be getting like 400 some odd space.

WHAT???
-
Dban, it is a HD eraser. Dbanning is the act of erasing the HD with Dban.
I have a 500gb HDD.
the Dban was canceled partial way through.
I am now noticing the HDD is being read as 372 GB. Its a 500gb HDD, so it should be 400 some GB, not 372. My question is how do i fix this, because everything reads it like this, including Gparted -
Have you tried wiping the drive all the way through?
-
that, and dban is saying its a 372gb drive... -
unplug the drive from your laptop, and plug it into your desktop or another system via a sata to usb adaptor.
Than just run the standard windows format utility, and you should be good to go.

Oh, so now we're back to writing in english again.
Seconded, install as a storage drive and format. -
its actually a desktop drive...
and i did that... still formatted as 372gb... i tried a DOS boot disk as well...
w/e, he is coming in 20 mins, ill just tell him that it is being weird and he has 372gb rather than 400 some... -
try doing it before the operating system than.
Plug the drive into the system and get a run command.
When your in DOS, type in "fdisc" into the command prompt and you should be able to format it their
This would at least get rid of any operating system recognition issues
The only other thing you can try is seagates seatools, wd lifeguard tools, or hitachi tools, depending on the drive manufacturer
