    Hi All:

I quickly scanned the "which drive to get" thread that is stickied here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=288101

Was thinking to get a WD Scorpio Blue. My question pertains to size, based on read/right access etc.

This drive will be for my new NC10 SE in case it should matter.

    Scorpio Blue 320 or 500??

Any strong reason to consider another brand?

    Thanks much.

    Mike

P.S. I did search and couldn't find a comparison although I wouldn't be surprised if this exact questions has been asked.

The NC10 is a very lightweight machine, so I think you will be best with a 5400rpm drive. Sure the 7200rpm drives will be faster, but they may cause a lot more noticeable vibration in such a small machine.
I think you are best off going with any of these three drives:
    (320GB 5400rpm):
    Hitachi 5K320
    WD3200BEVT

    500gb 5400rpm:
    WD5000BEVT

The 500gb 5400rpm drive will be the fastest of the three, so you may want to buy that one. It performs similarly to 320gb 7200rpm drives

    Thanks K-Tron!

I thought all the scorpio blues were 5400rpm where as the scorpio blacks' are 7200rpm?

I planned on 5400rpm because I want to maintain max battery life and a 7200 would cut into that.

Seems the blue 500 is the way to go then?
