How can I verify and prove a hdd spindle speed (drive RPM)?
I need to know if a drive I have is 5400RPM or 7200RPM and in this
case, I question the drives sticker so googling the serial number or product number will not help.

Go to your control panel, device manager and find out what drive you have. Then post the model number here or Google it.
As an alternative you could run HDTune which will also tell you what drive you have. -
Thanks...I got the drive from eBay, the sticker says it is a WD3200BEKT but Vista and Linux say it is BEVT. One is a 5400RPM drive, the other is 7200RPM.
I paid for the faster drive but I wonder if it is just rebadged. I need a way to tell the spindle speed. -
If both Vista and Linus say it's a BEVT it probably is.
If you run HDTune and post the results we will be able to know for sure. Before running HDTune make sure you disable as many processes as possible including virusscanner.
Also, what is your Vista Experience score for the drive? -
I'll post that info later tonight

I hope someone didnt just scam you like that, cause if they did you really should get your money back and report the seller. Swapping stickers on harddrives, not only hides the actual model of the drive to the buyer, but it also voids all warranties on the drive.
Run hdtune as other's mentioned. If they pick it up as a bevt than it is a bevt, and you got screwed by some ebay seller. The Bios will also state what drive it is, so if you enter the Bios you should be able to get the information you are looking from their.

Thanks for the input, here is a screen shot of HDTune.
It also says 3200BEVT but what do these specs tell you?
I noticed it runs right at 134 Fahrenheit, only 6 degrees from the max of 140.

Here's the HDTune result for the WD3200BEKT.
And for the WD3200BEVT:
So yours not only thinks it is the BEVT, in spite of what it says on the label, but also performs like one.

$hit!
Well, the seller seems to be ignoring me.
Time to call Amex. -
good luck fighting them, luckily you are finding the truth out now, and not like 2 years down the road.
I have never used ebay, but I am pretty sure you could email the ebay people to ban him or put warnings on his record for scamming you.
I hope you get your money back

I can confirm what John said, your HDTune results confirm that it is definetely a WD3200BEVT.
Good luck with everything.
