    Hi,

I recently swapped the HDD between my years-old (but still strong) Lenovo X60 and a HP Mini 5102 netbook, the reason being that the netbook had a faster (7200 RPM vs 5400 RPM) and bigger (320 GB vs 60 GB) hard drive. However, even though physically they were the same size, SATA, etc., I noticed that the Toshiba MK3256GSY HDD on the HP Mini 5102 had an extra 4 pins on one side (shown below near the right side), that the Lenovo HDD did not have.

I was wondering what those were for, and if there was any impact to the performance stability of either of my laptops after the HDD swap, given that one (HP) has a slot/support for those pins, but the Lenovo (AFAIK) does not.

    Thanks.

Jumpers. I've never seen anyone actually use them though.
