    Hi mates,
I'm new to this forum. Whenever I've doubts on computers I get cleared most of it by reading the posts here and tomshardware.
This is pretty good. So thanks for helping me out.

Now I've a doubt. I'm planning to buy a mobile workstation. Dell Precision M6800.
I'm thinking of buying that with HDD alone. Since it has a possiblity of adding a secondary hard drive, is it possible to add SSD in future, as i'm not planning to buy with it now.
And if i add it, is it possible to make SSD as the primary hard drive later?

    Thanks and regards
    Fazal

Yes, you should be able to do all of those things.

The only thing I would make sure about is to ensure that the secondary drive cage and wiring is in place for you. This might not be the case with a system that ships with only one drive.

See page 21 of the M6800 Owner's Manual (it's always a good idea to read the manual before buying a computer).

The secondary drive sits an a bracket which is unlikely to be supplied with the computer and you would need to buy separately (although sometimes it is possible to improvise other ways of fixing drives in the bay).

    Its what I did. :)
Ugh. All that boring reading makes my head hurt. But you're absolute correct sir. The more you know the less likely you will be to get into trouble.
It comes with everything you need. You just drop it in. Okay, you have to screw it in, but you get my point.

Unless they changed something since the M6700 days, the bracket will be included in the laptop regardless of whether you order it with one or more drives. All the screws necessary should also be there.

The only restriction is that the secondary bay will not take drives thicker than 9.5mm.

Thanks everyone. And I wont be installing them manually. I'd be giving it to some specialists or in Dell service centre. I'd be buying the same SSD that they give as optional in Dell website.
