    Hi,

I use an HDMI/VGA convertor to connect my laptop to a classroom projector. This worked fine for a long time however it now has suddenly stopped completely. My colleague has exactly the same laptop as me (hardware-wise, software / driver settings may be slightly different) and it still works fine for him. I've been battling this all day to try and get it work with no joy. Here's what I know:
    • The HDMI port on the laptop is working. If I connect the laptop to a TV via HDMI it works OK.
    • The HMDI / VGA adaptor is working, as it works fine on my colleagues laptop.
    • The projector is working, as if I connect via DVI is works fine.
    • All leads have been tested on alternate equipment and work fine.
    And here's what I've tried:
    • Rollback Intel HD Graphics driver and also nVidia GeForce driver to earlier versions
    • Connecting to TV then sleeping the laptop, then plugging in the adaptor (as suggested elsewhere on this forum)
    • All manner of different resolutions
    • Starting the laptop with projector plugged in, not plugged in, projector on/off all possible combinations
    • Clone / extend etc. all potential duplication settings
The best I can manage is to get the projector display to briefly show black - but generally the projector is just not detected as an available display.

I'm posting here in the hope someone might have a new suggestion - many hours of Googling and testing has not helped so far.

    Many thanks in advance!

Sorry - it's a custom build on a Clevo chassis, i7 3840QM 2.8GHz with a Intel HD Graphics 4000 chip and a nVidia GeForce GTX 670MX both of which are currently running latest drivers (I did try rolling back with no joy). Windows 7.

It's the HDMI CEC codec screwing things up from the looks of it ( I heard of a similar case last week).. Not too sure if there is a way to fix this... Google it..
