Are these HDMI ports strictly output ports or are there laptops that have HDMI ports as inputs for recording and such?
Also are there any HDMI input ExpressCard/54 for recording purposes?
    Thanks
    Tom

I haven't seen a laptop with HDMI input. I would think they would all be outputs. It would be a really specialized laptop to have an HDMI input.

HDMI is HDCP protected. Digital recording of 1080p contect like that is blocked. Though there are programs to get around it and making a perfect digital copy of a disc you own for purposes of protecting the disc is perfectly legal.

You would only be able to capture homemade 1080p video from a camcorder since it is HDCP off an HDMI input.

Yes, the Sager NP8120 (Clevo X8100) has an HDMI input.

X8100 has HDMI input, though I'm not sure whether it carries audio data, I think it's more of for other devices to utilize the large LCD screen.
