I would like to be able to record HDTV from my televison onto my PC. I already have a HD box/DVR for my TV. So I do have an HD source. But I have no idea what kind of cords I need or what types of things I need. What do I need to buy to go about doing this? I really have no idea so if someone could help me get started, that would be great.

Not the same thing. This is a tuner card. It does not support hi-def recording from a cable box.

so u already have a HD Source(cable box)....

either a PCI card (desktop), USB Stick/Box, expresscard Tuner

im using a USB Volar Max Stick ... CPU runs 20-50% (USB stick doesnt have hardware decoder..... USB Box/PCI Cards generally have hardware decoder, CPU does less work)

basically, I just want to be able to capture, edit and convert hdtv shows. and i'd like to get something under $150.

yes, i have a hd cable box and will most likely be using my desktop to record. so what is the best option for me?

sorry for the confusion. this is just all so foreign to me. i really apreciate you guys trying to help, though.
