I'm looking for a widescreen LCD 26inch HDTV. Price does not matter. What manufacturer has the best quality. Any info is helpful, websites too.

The DoubleSight DS-263N is supposed to be the best, uses a very nice LG Phillips screen. Sells for around $700. Good luck finding one though, everywhere I checked is out of stock. Planar and NEC have 26" monitors that use the same screen for much more money.

My second choice would be the LG 26" monitor that Best Buy has on sale this week for $550.

My current monitor is a LG 24" that I've been happy with.

Or did you mean, literally, a HDTV? If so, never mind...

If price does not matter than go for Sony Bravia or Samsung or Philips.

dont even look at other brands unless u kno them.

Follow THIS link for Sony Bravia 26" models.

Sharp makes the best small size HDTV's in my opinion. From there look around for them try price search engines like froogle & pricegrabber. However the Aquios line is the good one and it goes from 20" to 32" looks like, the 32" is full 1080p and great quality so if your ok with a bigger size thats what to go for.

Sharp. But anything under 32" do not have full 1920x1080. Mostly 1366x768.

For 1920X1080(+) in mid-20"s, you're probably going to have to go with a computer monitor with HDMI/DVI and a TV tuner. Otherwise, you're pretty much stuck at the 1366X768 in your size range. I'm more than willing to admit I'm wrong on that one, but haven't seen any evidence to the contrary.

Am I able to watch television channels if the monitor has a tv tuner? Is 1366x768 a disadvante at all? I'm looking for a high definition tv but also as an external screen from my computer to show the best image possible.

Then you're best off going with a PC monitor and using an external tuner and (if needed) a HDMI switch. Monoprice is my favorite store for HDMI/DVI cables and switches. Careful, if you're a videophile the cheaper monitors with TN screens may not be good enough for you. Do some research on the DoubleSight monitor I listed above. I don't have one but it's on my toy list (if I ever have money to burn...).

I think the best HDTVs at that size are Sharp and Samsung. With my Samsung 32" connected with an HDMI cable, my laptop comes through nice and clear at 1280 x 720. I could also switch the output to my TV's native resolution, but I've been lazy. Since I watch the anime on my laptop through my TV, the quality of the picture produced by my laptop is very important. Fortunately, my Samsung produces by far a better picture then my laptop. Still, if the only thing you're connecting to your HDTV, you should probably get a computer screen because they can be cheaper.
