Hey All!
I just bought my first laptop (I have built PC's for years), it is the Gateway 7422GX and couldnt be happier with the notebook..... BUT...
What the hell is the deal with laptop memory? With PC's, as long as the pin# and type (DDR, DRAM, sDRAM etc) is the same it is not a big deal.. Seems that laptops are a different animal with each manufacturer requiring a specific memory designed for only THEIR laptop??? Please say it aint so... Secondly... I have a laptop with a Athlon64 and 1600mhz FSB and according to gateway I can only put PC2700 ddr in it? WTF? What good is a screaming proccer with the big pipe if you can only put PC2700 at 333mhz in it? Again, SAY IT AINT SO!!
Any help will be greatly appreciated....

Even if you put in faster memory in there, it will only run at PC2700 speed.
I know things, things that could get me killed
Thinkpad T41:
* 1.6Ghz Pentium M * 768Mb Memory * 40Gb Hitachi 7200RPM * Panasonic UJ-845-B DVD+RW *
