My graphics fried on my laptop and I'm left with only my onboard graphics. I think I had ati radeon but I don't want to risk removing it, not a fan of trying to take anything apart on laptops.

So my question is this: What would be the best graphics card for my system?

    Here's my specs:

    Sys Manufacturer: Alienware
    Model: M5x0N
    BIOS: M5x0N - R1.00.01AL
    Processor: Intel T2600 2.16 (2Cpus)
    Memory: 2038MB Ram
    Page File: 1104MB used, 2826MB
    DirectX Vers: 9.0-c (4.09.0000.0904)

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

That laptop's graphics card most likely cannot be replaced. Replacing the motherboard is probably your only option. The graphics cards in most laptops are not removable without an extremely difficult (and expensive) process involving desoldering the chip from the motherboard. Some laptop gpu's are socketed and are detachable but it is hard to find replacements for them.

IDK... Since it's an Alienware, it maybe a MXM type GPU. Maybe MXM II or something.. it would really help to know a little more about the machine in question. Try opening the desktop properties and see exactly what type of graphic card you have.. if not the Device Manager and get some more detailed info. MXM cards really aren't that hard to replace, believe it or not!

I know, I'm just saying most of them are almost impossible to replace. MXM is what I meant by socketed by the way. I would recommend he downloaded everest software to see what if he has mxm or not.
