Recently bought a HP DV6585t SE for a aprox. $900... Comes with 4Gig Ram., 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 250GB HD, and other extras...Only down side is the graphics card it comes with!

I've been looking around newegg for a graphics card but unsure which are compatible with my laptop... Also, why is it that they have different brand name GPU but then it says Manufacturer NVIDIA? That's a lil confusing for a first time buyer...

Looking for a sweet deal, not looking to spend much more than $100 but might consider if price is right.. - Any help is much appreciated!!
Here's the link to the Nvidia section on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/product/Produ...=1305520548&Subcategory=48&Tpk=NVIDIA+GeForce
Extra info: Got a 3.5 Base score on Windows Experience Index... This was due to 3.5 on both graphics card test... Think it'll go up to a 5.0+ with the new GPU

Umm...those graphics cards are for desktops. The graphics card in your laptop cannot be upgraded.

To answer your question about the different names for the GPUs: its because like with other prodcuts, mulitple companies use nVidia's processor to make their versions of the 8800 or 8600, and so on.

most laptop gpu's are not made by nvidia or ati, but by other vendors like quanta, hannstar, and others, which are designed to work with your laptop.
As Lithus mentioned your graphics card is not upgradeable, so if your not happy with it, now is the time to cancel the order and get something more powerful.
(that is before the 30 days or so for refund to occur)

what graphics card is it, and what games or programs are you looking at running?

yeah, the intel graphics cards are all chipset based graphics cards and cannot be upgraded.
You can only get more gaming performance by selling or returning your laptop to get one which has a dedicated graphics card.

I know, its not the news you want to hear, but it is actually pretty common for people to ask.
