    Hello.

I own a Hp 625 laptop with V140 CPU and I want to know if one of these two cpu's are compatible with the laptop for upgrade:

    -ATHLON X2 QL-62 S1 G2 2.0GHZ 1MB 35W 65NM TRAY (AMQL62DAM22GG).
    -AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-core 1.80GHz Processor TK-55 (AMDTK55HAX4DC).

According to the specs here on HP's website, the 625 was offered with these CPUs:

    • AMD Phenom Triple-Core Mobile Processor P820 (1.8 GHz, 1.5MB L2 cache)
    • AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile Processor P560 (2.5 GHz, 2MB L2 cache)
    • AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile Processor P540 (2.4 GHz, 2MB L2 cache)
    • AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile Processor P520 (2.3 GHz, 2MB L2 cache)
    • AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor P360 (2.3 GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
    • AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor P340 (2.2 GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
    • AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor P320 (2.1 GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
    • AMD V Series Processor V160 (2.4 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache)
    • AMD V Series Processor V140 (2.3 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache)
    • AMD V Series Processor V120 (2.2 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache)

One of those, already offered on the 625, is probably your best shot at compatibility, though I'm certainly not a HP expert. You might want to poke around the HP forum to see if anyone has any better answers. I can't see the CPUs you've listed as working since they have a different voltage. Plus the ones I listed offer better performance. If you're looking for a performance boost, you might want to look at a better hard drive or SSD, something like the Momentus XT might work. For typical notebook usage, those will make your machine seem faster than a CPU upgrade.
