    Hi all,

I am looking to upgrade the HD+ 1600x900 LCD display in my HP 8560w since the mediocre screen practically ruins this notebook.
Following a video I managed to remove the bezel, this was much easier then I expected it to be.
From what I have read, the best TN display is B156HW01 v4/v7
This screen was introduced in 2010 or something.

    My request:
I want to buy the new LCD in europe (no import charges to the netherlands)
I would rather not spend more then €100 on a TN screen.
If there is a nicer IPS display available for this notebook I would spend €150 absolute maximum.
Note: i believe the connector is 40 pin LVDS and is located on the bottom left.
    P/N LTN156KT02-301

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

To make it more specific, which screen is better, B156HW01. LP156WF1 or LP156WF4? And which variant? (must be 40pin LVDS of course)

    Code:
<del>Well, forget about it. HP have managed to ruin this as well by connecting only about 30 pins out of 40 pins of the connector. So this thing actually uses single channel LVDS for a HD+ resolution. I wonder how many cents you saved by leaving out those wires HP?
So if anyone knows a single channel LVDS screen which is better than what I have now, I would like to now.
If anyone knows if it possible to replace the cable to allow for dual channel LVDS, let me know immediately.

EDIT: Very confused right now. Looked into the service manual and found that there is only one type of cable for both HD+ and FHD versions! The FHD version is clearly 2ch LVDS so I don't understand how this is possible. I believe the FHD version uses LP156WF1 TLF3.
   </del>
EDIT 2: Attached picture of the connector

    UPDATE:
I have now upgraded my screen succesfully to a LG LP156WF1 1080p unit. It is working without any problems / side effects what so ever.
About single / dual channel LVDS, if the cable is missing some wires this doesnt have to mean a thing, as was seen in my case. Much better is to just check the service manual to see if the cable will work.
This is in contrast to posts on this forum by some people stating that 1080p requires almost all (35+) wires to be there. It only needs 30 in my case.
Aside from this, upgrading the display is very easy on the 8560w, the bezel is easily dissassembled and reassembled.

    Case closed.

I'm sorry to revamp this thread, but I am planning to do the same upgrade. Which exact kind of display did you use? There are a whole bunch of LP156WF1 panels, with different suffix so I would like to buy ne which has been tested to work fine.

BTW, the explaination that I can give you about why 30ish wires are enough, is because the full 40 wires are needed in case of dual channel, 8 bit interface; however, most laptop panels are 6 bit only, so you can spare some wires and still have a dual channel interface that can support HD+ and FHD resolutions, but at 262k colours insteadd of 16.7M.
Also, in the 40 pins you have redundant Vcc and GND pins, but sometimes the laptop makers do not connect all of them, so they spare even more wires.
