Hi, I currently have an HP 8710w with 2gb RAM. I purchased myself an extra ddr2-667 2gb memory module and installed it. But since I installed it my laptop has been hanging roughly once to twice per day. Could this be because of the new RAM module?

The original RAM module that it came with says hynix and on the chip it also says Y5 so I assume it's DDR2-667 5-5-5. What is the difference between DDR2-667 5-5-5 and DDR2-667 4-4-4

The new ram module i purchased is a kingston KVR667D2S5/2G. I just googled its specs and it seems to be value ram ( http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KVR667D2S5_2G.pdf ).

Should i return this RAM or keep it?

If I do return it, should I get another hynix or will a Kingston 8710w specific module be fine ( http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/con...ww.kingston.com&ktcpartno=KTH-ZD8000B/2G&id=2 ) ?

    thanks!

Run memtest on it overnight. You can either download memtest and burn it or just get a Linux live disk.

It should be fine. I have a samsung and an OCZ, different brand names doesn't matter as long as the rams match each other.
