    Hello.

    I bought a GTX980m 8GB for my HP 8770w.
The installation went well but when I try to boot my computer nothing happens.
The power supply light goes out as soon as I plug it in.

Could there be a short circuit in the card?
When I put back the old card, the computer works.

    Can it be repaired?
I have purchased it in its current condition so I can not return the card :-(

    Good diagnostics!
Yes, the 980M is causing a short, you probably bought a defective card.

You can make pictures of the card (back and front), so we can maybe find the culprit, even tho chances are rather small.

When my 980m died it caused a short when I pushed power button. Turned out that 3 mosfets had died and it was a cheap fix in local repair shop.
