I have an HP 9743cl Pavilion laptop. It has a T7250 intel core2duo processor. Can this be upgraded to Penryn by me? I have built desktops and have performed laptop upgrades, but not the processor. Do the new Penryn processors for laptops like the T9300 use the same chipset as the T7250?

    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks

That said, I don't know about the HP policy with regard to processor upgrades: there is no reason you should not be able to physically swap the processor (there are even instructions in the form of service manuals on the HP website) but it may void your warranty (of course if your warranty is run out, no one cares XD)

If your computer supports a T7250 it should support a T9300. The PM/GM965 (maybe even the jack of all trades GL960 ;)) supports everything through the T9000 series, though you may need a BIOS update for the machine to properly recognize the new processor.
