Can get a T9800 QJFL(ES) for only a little bit more than a OEM T9600 SLG9F.
I have no idea about how HP accepts or blocks things by bios whitelisting.
Is ES processor likely to still be ok in regard to bios? Can anyone confirm plse?
Dv6 will take up to T9900 so in theory should be ok, just like to check that ES sample ain't a problem

Nevermind - a T9900 OEM popped up at a decent price

I know you don't need the answer to it anymore, but it doesn't matter if its ES or not. It will work fine guaranteed as long as the same core and configuration is known to work in the laptop. The worst that could happen is that the BIOS doesn't display the name of it correctly, but it will still work fine.

ES units are also known to inoperative or unreliable temp sensors as well.
HP Bios any problem with (ES) processors?
