I have an HP ZE4500 series (ZE4514ea) with Celeron 2.4 cpu, I am replacing mobo and would also like to upgrade CPU at this time - Q What cpu is compatable with my board? Can anyone advise please?
-
The question is what MoBo can you put in then you will know what CPU you can put in. Good Luck, I would reccomend just buying a new notebook in the end you will be so far ahead, I would guess $500 to $600 would get you somthing better than you can upgrade.
-
yup i would guess the best you can get is a P4 which were terrible both in performance and battery life. My cousin has an HT P4 3ghz and I can't believe how slow it is! lots of places are selling dual core laptops at under $1000, worth more than spending all that money on something that might just die out soon after the upgrade.

I have an HP ze4400 series laptop with Athlon processor that's still going strong. Short battery life now, though.
-
Good point Blondie and when you want to upgrade your MoBo and CPU we will go out shopping for a new lappie.
-
Nah. I still have my Toshiba M-55.
-
OK, Hmm? Is that a NO or a Maybe? Hmm?..................
-
I hope you're not paying much for that mobo... Why people replace mobos on entry-level laptops I'll never understand. You do realize new laptops start at about $500 and that literally any new laptop on the market will be faster than your current laptop even if you upgrade the CPU.
-
What you are talking about (1) isn't going to improve your performance very much, (2) will not bring your computer up to today's level of power, and (3) will cost more money than buying a low-end laptop that will be more powerful than what you have now.
-
Ok Greg sounds good, but what are you really trying to say?

If you're buying, I'll go.
