I see all the web sites says that the HP Compaq 8710P has two memory slots and can go to a max of 4 Gig RAM

Mine only has one slot. Is there perhaps a slot hidden somewhere?
I want to upgrade the memory but with only 1 slot I can only go to 2 Gig

i know everyone hates a necro, but this was so helpful to me i just cant not hope that someone else might benefit from it as hugely as me someday.

i came across this thread while googling, because i wanted to upgrade the ram on my 8710p, and because of this post i took the chance and bought two 4gb ddr2 modules, and IT WORKED! my 8710p now has 8gb of ram.

so for anyone who finds this post, this works!

    THANK YOU!

Hi fruithead, could you confrim what BIOS version you had in 8710p when you upgraded RAM?
I did same thing as you (checked exactly what RAM specs are for me to upgrade - DDR2-667/PC2-5300, exactly those http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001RB21J4 ), but after inserting both modules I get black screen.
