    Hi there

I'm new to this forum and I have a little dillema over here

me and my friend both have the NX9010, unfortunately his has a broken AC plug. I told him to take it to the local dealer in Perth, Western Australia (that's where we are) unfortunately they wouldn't repair it under warranty coz they say it has already been tampered with. So me being the techie (i've had 2 years experience in the field of computer and laptop hardware repairs) decided to take the laptop apart and repair it myself.

    Here's the question?

Is it possible to soldier another copper wire over the broken plug?? and is there anyway I can get a diagram of the laptop so I can figure out to put it back again safely coz the annoying thing about laptops is that once you open them up, putting the bits back together can be a nightmare (trust me i know this from my previous laptop)

oh and on a side note

is there any way to upgrade the CD drive, i am looking to replace it with a DVD+RW if available

thanks alot there, would be much appreciated with some answers (you can also email me if you got any good resources or diagrams)

I'm not sure about the soldering parts of you post, but I might be able to help with the other 2.

    1. Getting a service manual for the nx9010 is pretty easy. It's located on the HP Support site. Just goto the support section and do a search for the nx9010. It'll give you a list of options, just select manuals. It should be the Service & Maintanence guide. It'll give you full instructions on how to take apart the unit and put it back together.

    2. There's a few shops in the US that sells just optical drives for notebooks. You just have to make sure that it'll fit your notebook (check with the shop).
