I think the subject covers it, but I'm considering purchasing an HP Compaq nw8440 with the WUXGA display. Can anyone (like Teraforce, nudge-nudge) confirm whether or not this display is IPS?

If somehow the answer can be found with a simple search, please tell me how because I have tried, I promise.

    Thanks,
    -kyle

I'm seeing plenty of WUXGA screens for the nw8440.

The best thing to do as it is an older HP/Compaq laptop is to go to partsurfer.hp.com and punch in your model part number (sticker on the bottom with your serial number. HP will list ALL parts shipped with that specific model, and you will get the official HP Part number.

Also if this thread got moved to the HP Business line subforum, you'll get many more views.
