I really need a longer, 12 cell battery? Is there one available for this laptop? There is one I found it says "Compatibility: HP Pavilion dv2000, dv6000; Compaq Presario V3000, V6000 series notebook PCs" so does that mean it will work for this one, the dv2120? or just the dv2000?

Yes, there is a 12-cell battery. you can order it from HP if you have the laptop or customize a laptop from HP with the battery. It gives between 5 and 6 hours running time

Your dv2120 is a dv2000. So a 12 cell battery meant for the dv2000 will work in your system as well.

Look at the top right corner of your LCD screen, you should see this label 'HP Pavillion dv2000'
