    Hello guys,I have purchased HP DV5 1215 tx ,Intel C2D 2.2 Ghz, (T6600) ,160 gb 5400 rpm, 2gb ram (2 x 1024 MB),Nvidia 9600M GT,15.4 Inch WXGA High-Definition,lan modem wifi 5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader etc.
Thanks for the data available on this site, it was very helpful.

I have a bunch of questions

A)It came with a windows vista preinstalled.I didnt get any CD, the cd key is located under my laptop,So does that mean that if i dont make the 'recovery' cds, and instead format the whole harddisk, repartition, get any vista cd, and enter the key located under my laptop,it will still be a legal copy?

B)While the product is under warranty, I would like to test its battery life while playing game like crysis, and also while running a movie, so there a program that i can use?

C)What temperatures are 'acceptable' for harddiks, ram , gpu, processor

    D) I searched these forums, there is little info about this processor T6600, as its classified as an OEM processor, can I contribute in process of providing info by running some tests? if yes, which programs I use ?

PS: i have little experience in windows [infact i might delete my windows version from my harddisk altogether -depending on what i am told for part 'A'] , I am a linux user, but I will prefer to run tests [b,c,d] under windows

That's is usually the truth with license keys, what's important in your installer package is the serial number and not the disc, because it's what is used in order to verify whether or not you have a legal copy for registration.

    Hello, I have a HP dv5 1215 tx laptop.Specs are
    Intel C2D 2.2 ghz (T6600), 2mb l2, 800mhz bus
    2x 1 GB ram
    Nvidia 9600M GT

I was testing the stability of my system, and also monitor its relative temperatue,I usaed orthos stress prime, and for monitering temperature, i used hw monitor,
At an ambient temperature of about 41 degree celcius, the processor's 2 core's temp jumped to 81, and 82 degree celcius in about 3 minutes adn 24 seconds,Is it normal? and what is the maximum toleratable temperature of a notebook's processor?

Congrats on the machine, the dv5 is a great laptop.

Regarding the questions in your first post:
    A) The recovery partition contains all the necessary data to restore your system to factory state. DEFINITELY make the recovery discs. The key under your laptop will not work, it is not the actual key.
    Use this guide:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=120228

    B) The whole physical laptop is warranted against defects; the battery carries a one-year warranty regardless of whether you purchased an extended warranty or not. The warranty does not cover user-caused damage and does not cover the included software.

    C) Hard drive <55*C, CPU < 85*C, GPU < 90-95*C. Those are max temps.

    D) The T6600 is a budget Core 2 Duo; Intel does not officially list it on their roadmaps. It is not listed so they can sell it at a low price. Use CPU-Z to get info on it:
