    Hey Guys n Girls,

i have a HP DV6000 and am unhappy with the processor speed being a T2050 1.6ghz, can anyone tell me what socket type i currently have and will need and can someone recommend a cpu that will fit and be a lot faster I was thinking of a Core Duo T5600 1.83ghz. Also will i have to upgrade anything else or will the new processor just work as usual.

    Please Help

    You have a Socket M

    I suggest you upgrade to a T7200 insteead of a T5600.

Use CPU-z for more info on your chipset and look on the Intel Compatibility Guide

Unless you have a need to do CPU intensive stuff, a faster hard drive, if you've not done so already, is usually a better upgrade.

Processor upgrade depends on the chipset your laptop has. If your chipset only supports core duo's, the core 2 duo T5600 is not going to work.

You can find the chipset in your system by downloading CPU-Z. The chipset model is located under the motherboard tab.

As ZaZ mentioned, a harddrive upgrade or even a memory upgrade will yield higher performance at a cheaper cost.

What is the model of your current harddrive (download hdtune, it will tell you in the pull down menu) and how much memory do you have in your laptop?
