    I have a Pavilion DV6775us with an Intel T5450.

I wanted to change it for other like T7300 that has more Ghz and Cache.

Is it possible to do so? HP support claims that it is not possible but i found over internet that the dv6500 series that has the same motherboard comes with an Intel T7300.

    My motherboard specs:

    Board: Quanta 30D2 79.26
    Bus Clock: 667 megahertz
    BIOS: Hewlett-Packard F.33 11/12/2007

I don't know if that bus clock is the top i can get from it or simply that my current processor is FSB 667.

    Thanks everyone!

I don't see why it wouldn't work. HP support is probably telling you no because they want you to buy another, better laptop from them. It's not like the CPU is soldered to the board or anything (the GPUs are, though). You should have no problem throwing in that T7300.

P.S. You have to take virtually the whole laptop apart just to access the CPU (I used to own a dv6000z AMD laptop that I explored the innards of :D)

Yeah, I know I would have to open virtually every single thing of the notebook. I don't have a problem with that.

I just want to know if the motherboard would support that kind of processor in order not to spend like 200 bucks for some good expensive paperweight, haha.

Hi, I have a hp dv6775us and I was thinking in upgrading my processor. I still don't know what do I have to take in account for choosing a replacement compatible with my board. Ive seen other dv6000 series with processors different than T5450 and I guess that if they are using the same board as my laptop then it would work but I don't know if i can choose any FSB speed, etc.

If you succeeded in upgrading your laptop please let me know if it went OK and if you had a significant boost. I would also apreciate if you could tell me any problems you've encountered while upgrading.

    Thanks
