    Hi all,

I removed the standard DVD/CD Combo drive from my HP Envy 14 Laptop Version 1030ed.
    Model UJ-897.
I installed a Pioneer BDR-US01 BD Combo Drive.
Windwos sees the drive (System Information) has all the info etc.
Even a program called Driver Sleuth gives more info.
Also Opti Drive sees the drive
But the drive does not work, if insert a CD/DVD/BD nothing is happening.

Also when I try to upgrade the firmware from .082 to 1.01 the upgrade utility can not find the device.

    Where do I go wrong,

    Regards,

    Ger

Under CD/DVD ROM Drives in Device Manager, did you uninstall the driver for the old drive and allow Windows to reinstall the default driver for your current drive?

    Thanks for the reply,

After I removed the old drive
I made a fresh install of windows 7, using a Samsung drive at an USB port.
Update all drivers using Drive Sleuth.

    regards,

Possible vendor incompatibility then. The only way to find out if it's compatible or not ahead of time is to call the component manufacturer, as HP customer support most likely will not be able to answer that.

    Good luck!
