    Hello,

I have an HP ENVY dv7 7212-nr with an nVidia 650M video card. I want to upgrade into the 700M series (preferably 780M) and I want to know what my options are. I'm not opposed to custom solutions. Is this even possible?

    Thanks!

The Envy has a soldered GPU, it does not utilize MXM technology found in high end gaming laptops like Alienware, Clevo rebrands, MSI. There is no real way to get any more performance out of that machine. The best thing would be to sell your current laptop and look at a thicker gaming laptop with a 780M already in it, but prepare to pay at least 1400-1500 dollars. Also 800 series Nvidia are coming out soon..

Argh!! Thank you for the response... this machine is only worth about $600 and I don't want to drop another $1,000 for a memory card upgrade. What a bummer... thanks anyways.
