Hi i have an HP envy 13 and one of the hinges broke. being the lazy guy i am plus being full on at uni i never got it fixed. now the glass panel has cracked due to the xcess pressure.
where can i find a replacement?
the LED screen is undamaged. but it is so hard to find just the front part
do new replacement LED screens come with it or can i just remove it if i cant find the part and use the laptop without it, like most laptops are (without a glass panel)
    thanks

LCDs are composed of several layers of material. The glass panel you're talking about is one of them. The problem here is that you need a dust free area to be able to replace any of the layers inside an LCD. If you do that in your bedroom (for example) dust will get between the layers and you'll see spots on the screen when turned ON. The same goes with finger prints. I tried to do what you're trying to do twice and it was a complete failure.

I think you're better off getting a replacement screen. Either ways, ebay is your friend. You can grab a cheap second hand screen from there as you can get a cheap faulty screen and swap the glass.

Given all new HP screens are the same design, you could try buying the entire LCD module (a bit more but trust me alot easier). Panel is probably going to run you 150+

If the link works, would it look like that? A plain glass sheet covering the LCD panel itself? That glass sheet broken, not the LCD panel... did I understand correctly?

From HP Partsurfer you can look for parts and buy them.
    HP PartSurfer

Service Manual, page 4-19 has part numbers for full AntiGlare display assemblies. There's another model with Infinity display or what it was called on Pavilions? I guess you need to find correct service manual for your model.

i always ask if they come with with the glass panel but it seems most replacement screens are just the screen

That's why they are called replacement screens :)

Unless you find that glass as a separate part, ordering full display assembly would provide it. It has everything from hinges up, kinda plug-in install. Then you could sell the old lcd panel to get some of the costs back.
