    Hi,

I recently ordered this laptop ( HP ENVY 17t Quad Laptop, Intel® Core) with the intention of installing an SSD and making the SSD the boot drive. I'm having trouble finding the right caddy for this laptop. I have found caddys for the Envy 17-1000, 2000 & 3000 series, but not the 17t-j000 series that I just bought. Thanks in advance for any help.

Buy a generic caddy and screw on the faceplate of the ODD.

It would be a shame replacing the optical drive when the laptop has a spare 2nd HD bay.

Did you order the laptop with one HDD and replace it and add a new one?

The HP Envy 17t-j000 came with an open HD bay. I only had to add a new one. I did however clone the original drive to the new SSD, then reformatted the original for storage.

Could you pls let me know/suggest URL on how to clone original drive to a Intel SSD.

Also, I'm planning to order 2nd drive caddy from newmodeus.com / hp.com, could someone suggest which one is best, as both costs $30, but in hp forum someone mentioned it needs another part 'screws' for another $15. Is this as well required to add the 2nd drive. pls suggest if someone added a 2nd drive.
