I know this is very old-school stuff, however I could really use some advice, because googling didn't help.
Is it possible to use this or this HP MXM II cards in Acer 5930G laptop? Will I have to flash BIOS and/or dance around notebook with shaman drum in order to use it? Just in case, I need a dirty cheap downgrade to sell GT240M separately from notebook.

It's the standard MXM upgrade/downgrade/swap/whatever path - buy, try, share the result and/or ask for help :p It should work, though. Good luck!

triturbo, while I like your optimism, the only attempt to put HP FireGL V5725 from 8530w inside an Acer I am aware of resulted in complete failure - the thing refused to start. =\ Guess I'll still have to try it. =(

Well, HP 3650s were kinda go-to upgrade for a lot of 5920Gs. If it doesn't work it's much more likely to be fried, than incompatibility. After all this is what, ~7 years old GPU?

Probably because, it looks like, this FireGL from Your link don't have vbios chip soldered at all. The other one, HD2600 at least have one in the place.
