I currently have a HP Pavilion 17.3 Laptop with an AMD A8 CPU. I'm wanting to upgrade the processor to a much better one. What is the best AMD out at the moment? and would the CPU be compatible with my computers Motherboard or would I need to get something else? If upgrading to a much better CPU would i need to update anything else on the computer?

Don't upgrade...now if that was a Intel based CPU and you could go quad or quad-quad core then I would say yes but with AMD CPU I would say the money you spend on it could be better placed to get a Intel CPU and that will do more for you in the end then the AMD CPU will ever do.

But i'm in need of a new CPU, and an Intel socket is different from a AMD socket. So I'm not able to get an Intel CPU for my Laptop. If i'm wanting to replace it do you have any suggestions?

Unless you tell us the exact model of your CPU it's difficult to suggest a suitable upgrade, but A8 seems a reasonably good CPU, is anything wrong with it? You may go up a bit but the performance gain will be minimal.

What exactly do you mean in need of a new CPU? This is vague and considering AMD M8 is a newer CPU not sure what your asking about? So like the other poster said without any kinda of specs or hardware details we have no idea how to really help you. If your into gaming your Rig needs to be a Gaming Laptop preferably Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU to get the best return for your money and expect to spend upwards of 2,000US or more for something that can keep up with Desktop Gaming Rigs.
