    Hello all, :p

So I am curious, I just found the program Everest, great program that shows all the parts and pieces of your computer. So what I found out is that my laptop max memory is actually 4GB, when all the documentation states 2GB max. Which one is correct, or can I really get 4GB into it?

If HP says 2GB, then there is a good chance that the BIOS may not recognize/support 2GB modules.

You can try out 2+1GB though.

Your notebook will not address the whole 4GB....

    Ok

Thanks for all the help. I have not really ever upgraded laptops other than the ram upgrades. My desktop building skills are decent, I just wanted to make sure what I was going into before I bought upgrades before just "slapping" them into it.

HP alot of times says 2gb of ram as max on their website but then if you read the bios notes it says " Adds support for 4gb of ram " http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2100&product=3647228 being a perfect example. I have tried 3gb of ram in my brothers dv8000t and it worked fine. The problem is once you try to put in 4gb of ram your chipset can berly support that much ram plus you have a 32 bit processer / operating system so you will most likely end up with 3.5gb max or somthing around there.
