I know there is a BIOS lock on most HP laptops. Only a few mini-PCI express cards are whitelisted. Is this still the case?
I got a mid-level HP Pavilion DV4-11xx series at Best buy. The computer has a T5800 Core 2 processor and a GM45 chipset. The laptop came with only a 802.11g card. Does HP still bios lock the mini-pci cards?
There are several mini-PCI express cards that suposedly work with HP computers on e-bay. Does anyone have any recommendations?
The three cars that appear most often is an Intel 5300, one based on an Atheros chopset and one based on a Broadcom chipset.
All of these are probably build by third parties in China (they are sold in eBay origonating from China).
While I would like to use the Intel 5300 series, I don't want to start stringing a new antenna around in the case. The other two use only two antennas.
